Ingredients

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 ground allspice
  • 1/8 ground ginger
  • 2 gala apples, cored and cut into 1/8-inch-thick rings
  • 2 firm-ripe bananas, cut into ¼-inch slices

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and ginger until combined. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the apple slices.
  2. To dehydrate the fruit: Arrange half of the apple slices in a single layer in the Zone 1 basket. It is okay if the edges overlap a bit as they will shrink as they cook. Place a crisper plate on top of the apples. Arrange the remaining apple slices on top of the crisper plate and insert the basket in the unit.
  3. Repeat this process with the bananas in the Zone 2 basket and insert the basket in the unit.
  4. Select Zone 1, select DEHYDRATE, set the temperature to 57°C, and set the time to 8 hours.
  5. Select Zone 2, select DEHYDRATE, set the temperature to 57°C, and set the time to 10 hours. Select SMART FINISH.
  6. Press START/PAUSE to begin cooking.
  7. When both timers read 2 hours, press START/PAUSE. Remove both baskets and check the fruit for doneness; note that juicier fruit will take longer to dry than fruit that starts out drier. Reinsert the basket and press STAR’F/PAUSE to continue cooking if necessary.
